Five Signs It’s Time to Replace Your Car

Many people get attached to their car, especially if the car has performed well for many years. It’s a tough call to decide it’s time to replace your car, but no matter how well you care for a car, the time will come when the repairs will be costing too much and it may no longer be safe to drive.

Here are five signs that it’s probably time to find another vehicle:

When repairs cost more than the car is worth.
If engine work on the car is going to cost you $2,500 and your car is worth $500, simple math will alert you that it may not be worth keeping the car. If more repair work has to be done or if more breakdowns occur, these frequent and mounting repair bills are red flags that let you know it’s time to say good-bye to the ol’ reliable.

When the car is “beater.”
When the interior of the car so worn that you are ashamed to have guests ride in your car, or they are ashamed ride with you, then it may be time to say goodbye. A vehicle that is rusted on the outside with torn fabric interior, a hole on the floor, broken window handles, is no longer “cool” to own.

When the car stops being reliable.
When your vehicle breaks down too often, like every two, three months, it may be time to consider another vehicle. You need to have a dependable car. You can’t be late for work or appointments. And if these breakdowns mean major costly repairs and happen even after the repairs are done, it could time to get rid of what is becoming a money pit.

When the car fails engine emissions tests.
Your car may be too old to pass the engine emissions test required when you have to renew your license plates. It may not be worth spending money to add the technology to enable your car to pass the test. You may be better off buying a newer vehicle.

When the car is using more gas.
As cars get older, they become less fuel efficient. The money you save on making payments on a newer car may be costing you at the pump.

How Long Can My Used Car Last?

Date: November 29, 2018 | Category: Car Shopping

When shopping for a used car, it is always ideal to purchase a car with low mileage. Cars with more mileage than that would be considered high mileage, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they can’t last for many years. Read more to find out how long your car can last and when it's time to replace.

Does Mileage or Age Matter More When Buying A Car?

Date: September 21, 2018 | Category: Car Shopping

When buying a used car, mileage is an important factor, but age can be a big factor, too. In some cases, it may matter more.
